VLSI stands for Very Large Scale Integration. VLSI industry comprises of semiconductor companies producing microprocessor, microcontroller, consumer, telecom, computing, Networking etc., chips which may contain several millions of transistors integrated onto a single chip. There are VLSI product companies, VLSI design services companies which provide design services such as Logic Design, Verification, Physical Design, Synthesis/Timing, Design For Testability, Silicon Validation etc.,, EDA companies that develop tools to support various VLSI design activities. There are several opportunities that exist in these companies.
VLSI design can be broadly classified as Frontend and Backend. Frontend consists of Microarchitecture development, Logic Design, RTL Coding, Verification, Synthesis, Design For Testability (DFT) and Static Timing Analysis (STA). Backend consists of Physical Design, Physical Verification and mask design (Analog Layout).
We are currently providing training in Backend. We plan to start training in Frontend also very soon. Please keep visiting our website www.siliconsys.in for more updates.
ISS has been founded and promoted by VLSI professionals who have 16+ years of experience with tape out experience of more than 50 ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuit chips). They know what the VLSI industry needs are from a trained engineer to be productive on projects from day one. The curriculum (theory and practical) has been hand-prepared by these professionals and this will enable the students to be ready to work on projects as soon as they come out of training.
SS has been founded and promoted by VLSI professionals who have 16+ years of experience with tape out experience of more than 50 ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuit chips). They know what the VLSI industry needs are from a trained engineer to be productive on projects from day one. The curriculum (theory and practical) has been hand-prepared by these professionals. The faculty for the training and labs is truly VLSI professionals who have at least 5 years of industrial experience. The training provided at ISS is truly industry oriented. The projects are designed in such a way that the trainees are subjected to real-time situations, problems so that they can solve them. As part of Physical Design training, ISS teaches Digital abstraction, MOSFET switch, CMOS basics, Digital circuit speed, NMOS logic, CMOS logic, combinational logic, sequential logic, synchronous sequential design, timing awareness, setup/hold requirement significance, asynchronous circuits, metastability, synchronization, logic synthesis fundamentals, advanced logic synthesis (PLE based), floorplanning, place & route, clock tree synthesis, signal integrity, IR-drop analysis, Static Timing Analysis, low power design techniques and so on. Cadence tools (SoC Encounter etc.,) are used for training. You may find “testimonials” section on ISS website to get the first hand feedback from our trainees. VLSI Companies offer salaries comparable to the best software companies and most of the times even exceeding them. Salaries could range from 2.5 lakh to 4 lakh / annum based on candidate’s credentials. Some companies may actually allocate stock options as well.
Usually, we do not encourage this, however, we provide all the necessary technical support required to get you prepared well for the interviews even during the times beyond your training is done. We will continue to help you by scheduling interviews as and when opportunities arise.
The candidate should be a BTech / BE / BS in ECE / EEE / EI or an ME / MTech / MS in ECE / VLSI / Microelectronics with at least 60% of marks or equivalent grade. ISS conducts a written test in Digital fundamentals, shortlists candidates for technical interview and finally shortlists candidates for training. Admission to candidates who do not get qualifying marks in written test and interview will not be considered
We prefer candidates to appear for the written test in Hyderabad in person; however, for the students who can’t make it, we will work on alternative methods of screening. You may contact ISS for more details.
As we freeze the registration of the students after the selection process and provide training for limited students, we ask all the registered students to join the course without fail. If a candidate can’t join the course for some serious reasons, we may allow the candidate to join the next batch but the registration fee will not returned.
We do provide some flexibility in terms of the payment schedule and we encourage trainees to comply with the schedule.
